Archibald Seabrooks, son of Moses and Nancy (Dodson) Seabrooks, was born on 7 September 1785 in York County, Pennsylvania.  He married Mary Knight, daughter of John and Mary Christina (Groscost) Knight on 26 September 1805.  The Seabrooks, along with members of the Knight family, migrated to Beaver County, Pennsylvania in 1809-1810.  Archibald served as a private under the command of Captain David Knowles of the 138th Regiment Pennsylvania Militia (Lt. Colonel Robert Miller, commander) in the War of 1812.  Most of his brothers also served in the war, including Samuel, who served in the same regiment as Archibald.

The Archibald Seabrooks family migrated to Holmes County, Ohio about 1825, and settled in Salt Creek Township.  Archibald died there on 16 April 1847, and was buried in the Canaan Baptist Cemetery.  His wife, Mary Knight Seabrooks, died on 21 August 1882, and is buried next to Archibald.  According to a brief family memoir written by one of his great-nephews in the 1880s, Archibald and Mary were the parents of ten children (none named).  Eight children, along with an "adopted" daughter, have been identified to date.

Eliza Seabrooks was born c. 1808 and married George Mason, Jr. (1800-1835) on 22 April 1824 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.  Eliza died between 1835 and 1844, leaving no surviving children.

Maria Seabrooks was born 13 August 1809 in Adams County, Pennsylvania.  She married William Rowland (1800-1844) on 9 April 1829 in Holmes County, Ohio.  Their children were:

  • John K. (1829-1906), married (1) Barbara Bowers (1828-1882) and (2) Mrs. Cathrine B. Snyder (1836 - ).  No surviving descendants.

  • Elizabeth (1831-1915), wife of Jacob B. Franks (1826-1911) of Wayne County, Ohio.

  • Mary (1833-1914), no children.

  • Nancy Jane (1836-1886), wife of Jonathan Yost (1835-1912), no surviving descendants.

  • James (1839-1919), married Lovina Hinkle (1844-1928).

  • Archibald (died in infancy).

Maria Seabrooks Rowland died on 4 November 1879 in Salt Creek Township, Holmes County, Ohio.  She and William were originally buried at the Canaan Baptist Cemetery in Holmes County, but were re-interred about 1917 at the Fredericksburg (East Side) Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Wayne County, Ohio.

James Seabrooks was born c. 1815 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and died in November 1858 in Holmes County, Ohio.  He married Rebecca J. Spencer (c1815-1885), and had no surviving children.

Martha W. Seabrooks was born c. 1820 and died 18 February 1877 in St. Charles, Kane County, Illinois.  She married Peter James Burchell (1814-1875) on 22 August 1843 in Kane County.  They had seven known children, only one of whom may have had any descendants (George R. Burchell, born c. 1851 Illinois).  Martha and Peter are buried in the North Cemetery in St. Charles.

Nancy Seabrooks was born c. 1822 and died in January 1828.

Mary Anne Seabrooks was born in May 1824 and died 21 December 1915 in Hamilton County, Indiana.  She married Elijah Robinett (1824-1854), but had no surviving children.

John Seabrooks was born c. 1825, and died in August 1849 in Holmes County, Ohio, leaving no descendants.

Patterson Seabrooks, who died 28 July 1828.

Amanda Seabrooks, born c. 1820, was apparently raised by Archibald and Mary Seabrooks.  Holmes County, Ohio Probate Court documents, however, clearly indicate that Amanda was not Archibald's child.  She married George McDonald (born c. 1816), and died 1876-1880, probably in Hamilton County, Indiana.
